Scottsdale led lighting
Over the last few years, the cost of energy efficient LED lighting systems has dropped dramatically. This has led to a very rapid proliferation of the technology, giving business in Scottsdale and around the globe access to cheaper, cleaner energy.

But while industrial LEDs are a no-brainer solution for saving money on the energy bill, they are not always as cheap as people assume. Getting the most your of your new LED upgrade is about making realistic, research-based ROI projections that are based on real-world data.

Here are some of the most common ways that a new LED lighting system might be more expensive than you think:

Replacing LED Bulbs That Are Slowly Getting Dimmer

The fact that LED bulbs can last 50,000 hours (or more in some cases) is probably obvious to anyone who is looking to upgrade. But what some people don’t realize is that LEDs will at some point begin to generate less light than they did initially. This can lead to an entire room or production area becoming dimmer before you expected.

If you want to get the best lifetime out of your LED bulbs, you need to choose a quality product. Generally speaking, the more affordable the bulb is, the greater the chance that it will start to get dimmer before it is supposed to.

As far as ROI projections, it doesn’t hurt to plan your bulb replacements at 85% or 90% of the products listed lifespan.

Too Much Blue Light Leading to Productivity Loss

The production of blue-spectrum light in LED bulbs is not nearly as big of an issue as it used to be. When the technology was very new, LEDs produced so much blue light that they caused some people to experience headaches and eye strain.

Fortunately, the technology has come a long way in the last few years. Blue light levels are at the lowest they have ever been. In addition, new dynamic LED lighting control systems are hitting the market that are specifically designed to create warmer, more natural-looking light that is better on the eyes.

Another way to reduce blue light pollution is by making sure that you are buying quality LED bulbs. Just like dimming issues and fragility issues, the more you invest on LEDs, the better product you are going to get (for the most part).

Employee Health Issues

The blue light that we mentioned above can be the cause of certain health issues in human beings. Even though modern commercial LED lighting systems put of very little blue light, they can still be “bluer” than regular daylight.

A lack of natural light has been shown to contribute to insomnia, seasonal affective disorder, and depression. In turn, these conditions can lead to severe illness. Because any type of illness or malady can negatively affect operations, investing in quality LEDs can save a lot of money in the long run.

One way to protect your employee’s health (and your company’s bottom line) is by pairing your new commercial LEDs with a smart control system. These systems can modify the color temperature of your LEDs based on a daily schedule, effectively mimicking the natural light cycle of the sun.

Remember: When it comes to commercial LEDs, buying cheaper is not the best way to save money.
